Cashless claims allow you the convenience to get your device repaired with an authorized service center listed with the Insurance company and you do not have to pay for the repairs (unless the cost of repairs exceeds the protection cover that you have opted for your device). The insurance company settles part of the claim or the entire claim directly with the service center. However, there is a nominal yet mandatory excess amount that needs to be paid for every claim (details of which are available on your Certificate of Insurance).

The claim for your protected device must be raised within 48 hours of the incident of damage or theft. You must contact ICICI Lombard at 1800 2666 or +91-9223622666 or by sending an email to customersupport@icicilombard.com. All documents must be kept ready and must be shared with ICICI Lombard (post discussion with their officers).

3) How do I know my Subscription is activated?

We will SMS/email you immediately with a service confirmation after you have downloaded and registered within your app. Your Certificate of Insurance will follow in a couple of days.

4) What is Mobile Insurance?

This is a powerful service bundled with your FoneX subscription purchase which protects the smartphone you have newly purchased from perils like ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, LIQUID DAMAGE and THEFT. In the event of such unfortunate incidents with your new phone, with FoneX’s Mobile Protection Plan (offered at a discounted price); you are secured from the expenses of repairing the damaged phone or replacing it altogether.


5) Is there anything I must keep in mind before purchasing the Mobile Insurance or Extended Warranty plans?

What you should DO…

  • Download the FoneX mobile app from either the Google Play store or iOS App store and register yourself on the purchased service for the service to be activated.
  • Safely store the Certificate of Insurance/Extended Warranty that will emailed to your registered email id. Make a copy of the same, if needed.
  • Make sure you clearly understand:
    • What is your Policy Term?
    • What is covered and what is not covered?
    • Till what date is your policy valid?
    • In case of a claim, how and where to contact the Insurance Company?
  • Go through the FAQs and Terms & Conditions of the subscription to understand what exactly you need to do in case of damage or theft.
  • Ensure that you purchase the FoneX subscription for a newly purchased device only.
  • Ensure that you have a valid Purchase Invoice with details of the insured device, IMEI number(s) and the GST number of the vendor/store clearly mentioned on the invoice.
  • Inform the Insurance Company immediately (within 48 hours from the incident) in case of Accidental/Liquid Damage or Theft.
  • In case of theft of the insured device, report the case to the nearest police station immediately and obtain a FIR (with the stamp of the police station) which contains the IMEI number(s) of the device and ask the police officer to clearly state that the device was stolen with the details of the incident.
  • In case of damage to the insured device, please call up the Insurance Company to alert them about the incident and ask them to arrange for the repair. They will provide pick-up & drop service for your insured device.
  • Only if the Insurance Company instructs, you should get the phone repaired from an authorized service center of your device’s manufacturer only.
  • Keep all the required documents (in original) ready when you raise a claim.
  • Give complete and factual information to the Insurance company while filing the claim. False or misleading information could lead to disputes and rejection of claim.

  • 6) Is there anything I must avoid while or after purchasing the Mobile Insurance or Extended Warranty plans?

    What you must NOT DO…

    • Do not purchase the service for a device without a valid Purchase invoice (with the Vendor’s GST number clearly mentioned on the invoice).
    • Do not purchase the service for an old device.
    • Do not provide fake/false/forged Purchase invoices as the date of activation of the insured device is verified by the Insurance Company at the time of repair.
    • Do not purchase the FoneX subscription for a device purchased outside India.
    • In case of damage to the insured device, do not attempt to repair the phone yourself or get it repaired from any local vendor.
    • Do not get the insured device repaired before speaking with the Insurance Company.
    • Do not apply for multiple claims if one claim is already raised on the policy during the policy term.
    • Do not attempt any Fraud or Criminal activity with your FoneX subscription.
    • Do not make any false declarations about the actual use of the device you have insured.
    • Do not raise a claim of Theft if you have Lost your insured device.

    7) How soon must I raise a claim for Mobile Insurance?

    The claim for your Mobile Insurance must be raised within 48 hours of the incident of damage or theft. All documents must be kept ready and must be shared with ICICI Lombard (post discussion with their officers).


    8) What documents are required for raising a claim?

    This depends on what type of claim you make, namely whether it is a claim for damage or theft. Generally, there is a claim form, a repair invoice or police report, proof of purchase invoice, Identify proof of the Policy holder and bank details (cancelled cheque).

    For a damage claim:

    • Claim form – filled & signed by Policy Holder
    • Proof of purchase - the original invoice
    • Damage report from an authorized repairer (including photos)
    • Repair Invoice
    • Cancelled cheque
    • Copy of PAN card
    • Proof of address (Aadhar card)

    For a theft claim:

    • Claim form – filled signed
    • Proof of purchase - the original invoice
    • Police FIR report
    • Cancelled Cheque
    • Copy of PAN card
    • Proof of address (Aadhar card)

    These is just an indicative document list. Actual documents needed will be decided by the Insurer based on type and extent of damage/loss that has occurred with your insured device and the scenario in which the damage/loss has occurred. Please speak with ICICI Lombard while raising the claim to know what documents you need to share.

    10) When is my renewal date?

    Your FoneX bundle lasts for one year and then automatically ends. You can find your end date by checking the Certificate of Insurance that is emailed to you post activation of the subscription.


    11) How do I cancel my subscription?

    We're sorry that you are even thinking about cancelling.

    If you have paid for the service; you have a 7-day cancellation period. Should you wish to cancel you can email us on support@fonex.in

    14) What is Upload Important Docs?

    This is a Cards & Docs service which keeps all of your payment card and valuable document information in one place on your phone, so you have access to them when you need them.

    We never store card numbers, so they are completely safe.

    You can also store the details of important documents such as your passport, driving license or ID card so you have them to hand if you ever lose them or need to access them urgently.


    15) How do I register a card in Upload Important Docs?

    Register your card information by manually entering the information or by using your phone's camera to read your card information.

    Camera scanning will not work on cards that are not embossed (with raised numbers and letters)

    If you are scanning an embossed card, hold the camera directly above the card and keep it still.

    You can also add the card number and details manually.


    16) How do I save a document in Upload Important Docs?

    Add photos of important documents. You can upload these from your existing photos or take a new photo using your phone's camera.

    Don't forget to name the document so you can easily keep track of what you have saved.


    17) I am having trouble scanning my card?

    Camera scanning will not work on cards that are not embossed (with raised numbers and letters)

    If you are scanning an embossed card, hold the camera directly above the card and keep it still.

    If your card will not scan, you can enter manually by clicking the keyboard button in the bottom right hand corner.


    18) Are my cards safe to register?

    We never store card numbers, so your card information is never available to anyone else, even if they were to get access to your phone and your app


    19) Who provides the Upload Important Docs service?

    Your Valuable Docs Store is provided by FoneX Technologies Private Limited.

    The information you store in there is kept on your phone and not shared with anyone.


    20) What if I lose my phone? Will I lose all my uploaded documents in the “Upload Important Docs” service as well?

    Fortunately, we though about this as well and we have provided a Cloud upload service for you. Using the cloud upload, you have the option to upload all your important documents to the cloud service of your choice (i.e. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). We recommend that to avoid the loss of uploaded documents in an event of unfortunate loss of phone, you must upload all your important documents into the cloud service of your choice from our app.


    21) What is Lost Wallet?

    Lost Wallet enables customers to register all of their bank cards in their wallet under one app.

    Then, if you lose your wallet, you'll be able to cancel and re-order all of your cards with just a few clicks.


    22) I have lost my wallet. What shall I do?

    Lost wallet works by reporting your pre-registered cards for you when you tell it that you've lost your wallet.

    Simply follow the steps within the app to safely and securely report your cards.


    23) When will I receive my replacement cards?

    Typically, it takes 7-10 days for replacement cards to be delivered but the actual time depends on your bank.

    Please contact your bank directly for an update on when you can expect to receive your replacement cards.


    24) How do I set up Lost Wallet?

    It is important that when you receive the app that you enter your cards into the Cards & Docs. You can do this by using your smartphone’s camera facility OR by entering the details manually.

    Don't forget to select your Bank as this will automatically provide to you your Bank's lost and stolen support telephone number.

    If you’ve not done this, there will be no record of your card in order to report it as lost or stolen.


    25) Can I report any cards other than credit or debit cards?

    Unfortunately, Not. We can only help you to report lost or stolen credit and/or debit cards.

He has also worked at ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, and other NBFCs viz. Citicorp and Apple Finance. His last assignment was with Magpie Technologies Ltd (registered at BVI) as Managing Director-India.

    Karan is MBA in Finance and has graduated from the prestigious St. Stephen's College, New Delhi. He is a complete Tennis Aficionado and is amongst top 5 ranked players in 45+ category in India. He represented India in Oct 2018 at The World Senior ITF Tennis Championships held at Miami(USA).
